2007/2020: National Trophy and the Covid era

The National Trophy sees the light in 2007 when the Moto Club Spoleto, promoter of the Trophy Wilmer Marsigli that has been disputed for 18 editions and was reserved for two-stroke bikes, decided to open its competition to the four-stroke motorcycles of 600 cc and 1000 cc. The National Trophy was born and until 2012 retained the name of National Trophy Marco Papa. And it is 2012 that sees the beginning of a nuisance in the history of the National that becomes the reference trophy for national motorcycle competitions and takes place in 7 rounds, in the most prestigious Italian racetracks.

From 2013 it is held in conjunction with the Campionato Italiano di Velocità (CIV) and is broadcast live on television and on the web. The National Trophy is a valid gym for riders, both Italians and foreigners, who then compete in the various world championships. The organization and the promotion are still managed by the Moto Club Spoleto, that has been operating in the speed sector since 1921, with an enviable record, made up of Italian and world titles.

The 2018 edition marks the definitive consecration of the National Trophy 600 and 1000 among the best national championships, confirming the great work done by the Moto Club Spoleto, which has managed to keep a winning formula unchanged over the years: open championships for all motorcycles and all riders and constant search for cost reduction.

In 2020, the calendar was distorted, like all sports and artistic events, by the pandemic. But Moto Club Spoleto saved the season, despite, obviously, by reducing the number of rounds, but still organizing a season on the racetracks of the world championships.
